“Return to Base,” Yoann Richomme on the right wave

“Return to Base,” a transatlantic race in the right wave, has left sailors exhausted yet content as they docked in Lorient since December 9. Despite delayed starts and challenging weather conditions, the race for Imoca monohulls, the Vendée Globe boats, was emotionally rich and demanding. Added to the calendar after the Transat Jacques-Vabre, the event aimed to reduce carbon footprint and spice up navigation. The sailors, already engaged since the Transat Jacques-Vabre, had little time for preparation. Despite uncertainties about the future placement in the calendar, the event was enjoyed for its sporting interest, impressive performances, and stories of solidarity, exemplified by Tanguy Le Turquais.
