Paprec Group is continuing its European expansion by acquiring an 80% stake in Brantner green solutions, a major waste management company in Central and Eastern Europe. The transaction will enable the French group to establish a presence in five new countries: Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Serbia.

Paprec has signed an agreement to acquire 80% of Brantner green solutions, the environmental division of the Austrian family-owned Brantner Group. The Brantner family will retain the remaining 20% and will continue to support the company’s development. The transaction remains subject to the usual regulatory approvals.

Founded in 1936, Brantner green solutions specialises in waste collection, sorting, recycling and recovery. The company employs nearly 2,500 people across 65 sites and serves more than 28,000 customers, local authorities and businesses in five Central and Eastern European countries. It generates annual revenues of more than €320 million.

A new milestone in Paprec’s European expansion

Following its expansion into Switzerland, Spain and Italy, Paprec is taking another major step in its international development. This acquisition represents the Group’s largest investment since its partnership with Coved in 2016.

This partnership brings together two family-owned groups that share the same long-term vision and a strong commitment to the circular economy.

Through this transaction, Paprec aims to accelerate its development in Central and Eastern Europe while making the technologies and expertise the Group has developed over more than 30 years in waste recycling and recovery available to local authorities and businesses.

Following completion of the transaction, Paprec will have approximately 26,000 employees across 15 countries and expects annual revenues of more than €4.5 billion.
