Recycling Plastic Bottles – The Cycle

Step 1: Distribution

Each year in France, 6 to 8 million plastic bottles are bought. They are available everywhere.

Step 2: Collecting

Once finished, remember to recycle your plastic bottles! All you need to do is to put them in the containers provided by your local community (yellow or blue bins, bags, etc) for packaging, or straight at your local waste drop-off site.

Step 3: Sorting

Once collected, household-sorted packaging waste is recovered at the sorting plant. Clear PET bottles are separated from the rest and sent by truck or barge to our France Plastiques Recyclage factory to be regenerated into pellets.

Step 4: France Plastiques Recyclage

FPR makes PET (polyethylene terephthalate) granules from plastic bottles collected from households by the regional communities. FPR produces food-grade recycled PET (rPET – AFSSA/ANSES norm) for the creation of new bottles or other food-grade products.

Step 5: Manufacturing

The rPET granules return to the plastic industry to be transformed, most of the time, into new plastic bottles.
