The Resources

In 2009, 4.2 million tons of printing paper were used, 2.3 million of which were used in homes. But only 2.8 million tons of paper were collected for recycling that year. 

The Objectives

Every year, the collection of paper and cardboard progresses, representing 52% of the  total recycled paper. But only 66% of printing paper consumed in France is recycled. Yet, recycling 1 ton of cardboard saves 2.5 tons of wood and 2.5 tons of carbon-emission.

The Cycle

Paper and cardboard collected from communities and enterprises are stocked in skips, before being transported, by truck or by boat, to the treatment facilities to be sorted and baled for recovery. They become RCFs (recycled cellulose fibres). This new raw material is used to make cardboard, newspapers, writing paper, tissues, etc.
