Batteries and WEEE

From computers to freezers, from mobile phones to televisions, the amount of electrical and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) has grown three times faster than any other waste… Dumping it is now illegal, and their recovery is subject to strict regulations.

Complying with constantly evolving regulations

In response to the growing volumes of waste and the changing regulations, the Paprec Group has created Paprec D3E, a branch in charge of collecting and optimising the recycling of batteries and WEEE in France.

A branch for the processing of batteries

Every year, Paprec D3E collects and processes over 3000 tons of batteries and accumulators at its site in Cestas (Gironde), which makes it one of the sector’s leaders.
Zinc and alkali batteries are sorted before being destroyed, then the recyclable materials are recovered at specific registered factories. Other types of batteries follow their own specific processes.

A branch for processing WEEE

Paprec D3E has 8 registered factories all over France that collect and recycle 100 000 tons of WEEE every year.
Paprec D3E has built a national network for the collection and treatment of WEEE:

  • Cestas (33)
  • Colombey-les-Belles (54)
  • Pont-Sainte-Maxence (60)
  • Chassieu (69)
  • Guitalens (81)
  • Chauvigny (86)
  • Corbeil-Essonnes (91)
  • Sarcelles (95)
